The easy-way to sail racing - ISAF

ISAF_1.jpg
The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has released a one-page Rulebook with the very basic rules to race together on a sailing boat. Within 10 rules, ISAF has concentrated the basics to have fun together competing on a boat, including the principles of good sportmanship of course!

"The Introductory Rules for Racing (Version 1:01 - February 2008) are intentionally minimalist and they omit as many complications of the RRS as possible. They are written for sailors who are starting to race and with no more than 2 years of racing experience. After this period these sailors should be encouraged to sail races under the Racing Rules of Sailing".

Much more complex and detailed is of course the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) which drives all the sailing competition in the world, but - as ISAF said "These rules are compatible with the principles and fundamental rules in the RRS. However, they are neither a guide to nor an abbreviated form of the RRS".

The idea is excellent and gives to the "organizers" an high grade of freedom (and consequently a huge amount of resources) to let the beginners to have fun and "taste" the
