Stockholm International Boat Show 2008
The show is open 1-9 March.
Stockholm International Boat Show is the Scandinavia's largest boat show, which attracts over 110,000 visitors every year. Everything is on display here from marine jewellery, boat chinaware, sailing dinghies, fishing equipment, the latest navigation gadgets, etc. In addition, over 1000 boats are on display, most of which are under seven metres and intended for family use.
The Swedish name for the show "Allt för sjön" means "everything for the water" and as the name says by and large everything for the water is on show here at the fair.
At the show, for example, you can learn how to make good "boating food", find help choosing binoculars, see the latest sailing clothes, surf and ride a jet ski on simulators, sail and compete with radio-controlled boats, hear very interesting lectures, talk to representatives from different municipalities and find information about the summer's planned travel destinations.
Of the over 1000 boats being exhibited, there are usually around 100 revealed for the first time in the world or in Sweden that have never been shown at a fair before. Furthermore a number of accessory and clothing shops will be exhibiting.
There are also many wooden boat manufacturers involved in the Classic Boat Show, which this year will honour the fact that the Swedish square metre yacht is 100 years old.
Boating, which is one of the most popular activities in the country, has increased steadily over the last ten years. Around two million Swedes go out in leisure boats every year and boating has a turnover of around 15 billion SEK. The number of boats sold in Sweden increased by 20 per cent from 2006 to 2007. During 2007 about 25,100 leisure boats were sold in the country.
The opening hours are: Saturday-Sunday 10 am - pm and Monday-Friday 11 am - 8 pm.
The show runs until the 9th of March.
